Junior Dance Performance Company

The Art Underground is currently looking to expand its Jr. Dance Company for the 2016/2017 Season. If you like to dance and want to take your training to the next level with ample opportunities to perform, this is a perfect opportunity! The Junior Performance Company participates from September through the end of May. Each student is expected to perform in 1 to 2 competitions and the Fall and Spring recitals.

  • The Jr. Dance Company program (students 7-10 yrs) prepares dancers for participation in the Art Underground’s Performance Dance Company, a pre-professional quality dance training program. (Performance Dance Company page has full description).
  • The Director, Christine Rohde, is a caring and nurturing instructor, who has taught all ages of dancers. She has performed with several choreographers and companies.
  • Each student will become a well-rounded performer with numerous performance opportunities including dance competitions, community performances, and dance recitals.
  • The mission of this group is based on developing each student’s individual best as well as supporting other members of the Junior Dance Company to promote the entire groups’ development in dance and performance. The focus is not to compete against one another in a negative way, but to help the whole group improve in a healthy and positive manner.
  • Affordable classes that are focused on dedication and development are delivered in a fun and inspiring environment!

Intermediate Dance Performance Company

The Art Underground is currently looking to begin its Intermediate Performance Dance Company and Ballet School for the 2016/2017 Season. If you love to dance and want to take your training to the next level with ample opportunities to perform, please read more below.

Why be a Part of the Performance Dance Company?

  • This is a pre-professional dance training program (students 10-13 yrs) in a variety of dance forms including Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Musical Theater and more.
  • Each student will become a well-rounded performer with numerous performance opportunities including dance competitions, community performances, and dance Fall and Spring recitals.
  • Students of the Intermediate Performance Dance Company will have world première dance choreography set by an experienced and successful artist.
  • The mission of this group is based on developing each student’s individual best as well as supporting other members of the Performance Dance Company to promote the entire groups’ development in dance and performance. The focus is not to compete against one another in a negative way, but to help the whole group improve in a healthy and positive manner. Structured evaluations will be given to the students periodically throughout the session including videotape consultations and technique rubrics to ensure the utmost training and development of each individual student.
  • Each student will receive both individual feedback as well as overall group observations. This approach helps each student learn how to continue to improve and develop as well as building teamwork, camaraderie, and respect as a dance company.
  • Affordable classes that are focused on dedication and development are delivered in a fun and inspiring environment!
  • We recommend students in the Intermediate Performance Company take an additional Ballet class to strengthen growth.

Senior Dance Performance Company

  • This is a pre-professional dance training program (students 13-18 yrs) in a variety of dance forms including Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary, Ballet (Ballet Academy), Tap (Additional Class), Musical Theater and more.
  • Each student will become a well-rounded performer with numerous performance opportunities including dance competitions, community performances, and dance Fall and Spring recitals.
  • Students of the Senior Performance Dance Company will have world première dance choreography set by an experienced and successful artist.
  • The mission of this group is based on developing each student’s individual best as well as supporting other members of the Performance Dance Company to promote the entire groups’ development in dance and performance. The focus is not to compete against one another in a negative way, but to help the whole group improve in a healthy and positive manner. Structured evaluations will be given to the students periodically throughout the session including videotape consultations and technique rubrics to ensure the utmost training and development of each individual student.
  • Each student will receive both individual feedback as well as overall group observations. This approach helps each student learn how to continue to improve and develop as well as building teamwork, camaraderie, and respect as a dance company.
  • Injury prevention, strength training, and flexibility are enhanced through integrated yoga, Pilates, Alexander Technique and other somatic practices inside each class. Ms. Rohde has practiced Clinical Massage Therapy for eight years, working with professional dancers and athletes, physical therapists, and chiropractors alike. Her knowledge is integrated into the classroom, utilizing anatomically sound practices to ensure correct and proper dance training.
  • Affordable classes that are focused on dedication and development are delivered in a fun and inspiring environment!
  • Senior Performance Company dancers are required to attend Monday Ballet Academy V class and need to enroll in Tuesday and/or Thursday Ballet Academy V (formerly Ballet School). This ensures a classic foundation to help develop their growth.
